At your initial examination we will determine if you or your child is in need of:
Interceptive or Phase I treatment while they have several baby teeth or
Comprehensive or Phase II treatment where the majority or all of the teeth are permanent.

PHASE I / Interceptive Treatment:

Partial bracketing of the teeth when the patient has a mixture of baby and permanent teeth.

The potential benefits of PHASE I treatment are as follows:

Influence growth of the jaws in a positive manner
Improve the width of the dental arches
Reduce the need to extract permanent teeth
Reduce or eliminate the need for jaw surgery
Correct harmful oral habits
Reduce appearance-consciousness
Lower the risk of trauma to protruded front teeth
Simplify and shorten treatment time for definitive orthodontic treatment
Increase stability of final treatment results
Reduce likelihood of impacted permanent teeth
Improve speech development
Improve position of first permanent molars
Guide permanent teeth in more favorable positions

THE MOST NOTED BENEFIT OF PHASE I TREATMENT IS DECREASING SEVERITY AND LENGTH OF LATER/PHASE II TREATMENT ONCE THE PERMANENT TEETH HAVE ALL ERUPTED.

Comprehensive (PHASE II) Orthodontic Treatment:

Placement of a complete set of orthodontic brackets and wires on the permanent teeth.

The potential benefits of PHASE II treatment are as follows:

Improved facial appearance
Resolution of teeth crowding or spacing
Better periodontal health of gums
More proper positioning of teeth
Improved positions of jaws
Correction of deep overbite
Correction of an openbite
Improved swallowing and/or chewing
More articulate speech
Reduce likelihood of headaches, facial, or neck pain
Less jaw clicking or popping
Reduced abnormal wear of teeth
Improved breathing and sleeping
